Working together to Protect Every Child’s Right to Learn
Under Ontario’s Education Act, every student is entitled to a program which meets his or her needs. In Halton, our Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) helps the Board protect the rights of students with special learning needs.
SEAC provides specific information, advice and assistance to parents/guardians whose children may require additional support. It makes recommendations to the Board concerning the establishment and development of special education programs and services.
The Committee is comprised of member representatives from:
- Autism Society Ontario – Halton Chapter
- The Association for Bright Children
- Canadian Mental Health Association
- The Halton Down Syndrome Association
- Easter Seals Society
- Halton Council of Home and School Associations
- Tourette Syndrome Association of Ontario
- VOICE for Hearing Impaired Children
- Learning Disabilities Association of Halton
- Halton District School Board (Trustees)
- Members at Large
