Position: Early Childhood Educators
Salary Range: $20.09 / hour – $26.27 / hour
Location: Various Schools in Halton
Work Schedule: 10 months/year – 35 hours/week
Effective Date: September 1, 2012
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized community college and be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Three to five years experience as a lead ECE in a childcare centre and working with children and their families with developmental delays is preferred. French language, additional languages and computer literacy are preferred. Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license. A combination of skills and experience will be considered. In additional, successful candidates may need to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to attend additional meetings in the evening.
Position Summary:
The Early Childhood Educators will be responsible in accordance with the Education Act to work in collaboration and partnership with the classroom teacher, in the implementation and set up of developmentally appropriate activities for children enrolled in the kindergarten and extended day program. They will work in partnership with the teaching team to listen to, respond and provide guidance, feedback and/or resource supports as deemed appropriate to the families.
This position will also be responsible for the provision of the extended day kindergarten program in the school, including:
·Maintain application of Health and Safety Standards.
·Ensure the activities required for project based emergent curriculum are documented, maintained and utilized when planning activities.
·Prepare, maintains, and supervises classroom and playground areas.
·Support students with independent washroom duties, dressing and lunchroom activities
·Communicate with their Supervisor and other staff on pertinent information concerning children and their families.
·Collaborate with Student Services staff concerning implementation, set up of programs and activities for children with special needs.
·Listen, respond, and provide guidance to families, supply staff, students and volunteers, in program planning, childcare, and community resources.
·Utilize service coordination to ensure effective service delivery.
·Attend regular staff and team meetings.
·Participate in student evaluations, parent/teacher interviews and make observations and provide appropriate documentation for student assessment.
·Arrange and supervise field trips and community outings as required
·Prepare and handles food according to standardize recipe to ensure food quality, safety, and quantity when required.
·Perform duties as Supervisor when required.
·Perform housekeeping duties as required.
·Perform other duties as assigned.
