Elementary Occasional Teaching Positions

The Halton District School Board is currently not accepting applications for  Occasional Teachers. 

The Elementary Occasional Teacher Pool is currently recruiting teachers with French Qualifications.  FSL Part 1 is required.  Please apply directly through Apply To Education www.applytoeducation.com
Only resumes that are submitted through Apply To Education will be considered.  Only applicants in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers need apply.   Resumes / Application packages that are submitted directly to Human Resources or Principals / Vic-Principals will not be considered.
Only those applicants that are selected for an interview will be contacted. 
Computer skills and knowledge are a definite asset for all teaching vacancies.


Potential Teachers:
New teachers wishing to submit a teaching application to the Halton District School Board must apply directly to www.applytoeducation.com. Mail-in applications will not be processed.
When applying to the Halton District School Board through the Apply to Education Network, your application package must include:
1. Cover Letter (addressed to Sue Dykstra, Manager of Human Resources – Elementary)
2. Resume
3. Practicum Assessments or Principal Evaluations
4. Copy of Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (where possible).
We thank all applicants for their interest in the Halton District School Board, however only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. If selected for an interview, you will have to provide references (3). Experienced teachers will also be required to bring a copy of their most recent teacher performance appraisal.


Conditions of Employment:
Anyone offered a position with the Halton District School Board would be required to successfully complete the Pre-Employment Screening Process for the Board. The Pre-Employment Screening Process includes the requirement to provide the Board with the following:
1. OCT Certificate of Qualification (in good standing)
2. Latest Teacher Performance Appraisal, if applicable (minimum level of satisfactory)
3. Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within six months)
4. Medical Certificate of Good Health (dated within six months)
5. Verification of Teaching Experience, if applicable
6. QECO Statement of Evaluation


As well as presentation and acceptance of the above documents, the appointment would be conditional upon the following:
1. The teacher continuing to hold qualifications in accordance with the Acts and Regulations administered by the Minister of Education.
2. Agreement to comply with the Board’s policies, procedures and code of conduct.
3. A probationary period in accordance with the collective agreement (currently one year for probationary teachers and 30 instructional days for occasional teachers).
