March 11, 2011: Halton parents, Early Childhood Educators and community members are invited to participate in the 16th annual For the Love of Literacy conference on Saturday, April 9. It will be held at Notre Dame Secondary School, 2333 Headon Forest Dr. in Burlington, from 8 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
The conference is co-sponsored by Halton Region, the Halton District School Board, the Halton Catholic District School Board, Sheridan College, The Oakville Parent-Child Centre, Milton Community Resource Centre, Reach Out Centre for Kids and local public libraries.
The keynote speaker is Kevin Sylvester, a renowned author, illustrator, and broadcaster. An award-winning sportscaster for seven years, he’s well known to listeners of CBC Radio One for broadcasting national sports and anchoring radio coverage for four Olympics. He is now a regular on

Sports Hall of Weird, was named a Silver Birch Honour Book and a Rocky Mountain Honour Book.
Halton District School Board staff members will also be making a presentation at the day-long conference about the first year implementation of the full-day everyday Kindergarten program.
