2010 Secondary Art Show will be held next week in Burlington

May 7, 2010: Parents, students and the community are invited to a four-day secondary school art exhibit next week at the New Street Education Centre (3250 New St., Burlington), wrapping up on Friday, May 14, 2010.

An opening reception for the 5th annual Visual Voices will be held on Monday, May 10 from 7-9 p.m. at the New Street Education Centre. The show will be open Tuesday to Thursday (May 11-13) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and on Friday, May 14 between 8 a.m. and noon.

Hundreds of pieces of student artwork will be on display. Created by Grade 9-12 students from schools across the Halton District School Board, the works of art incorporate painting, sketching, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more impressive styles.

“This is a very impressive art show.  The skill, creativity and critical thinking that is expressed by our Halton art students is truly amazing,” says Mary Stevenson-Baratto, Acting Coordinator for the Arts for Halton District School Board. “We have very talented art teachers who are able to help students realize this wonderful work.”
