March 8, 2012: The Halton District School Board is proud to host the 32nd annual Think Bowl competitions.
They involve more than 600 Junior Level (Grades 5 and 6) and Intermediate Level (Grades 7 and 8) students. These competitions provide them with an opportunity to challenge their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Specifically, students work in teams to analyze a problem scenario and brainstorm solutions to actual, real-world problems. The teams are required to show their thinking by answering a series of questions in a booklet and then present their solution in the form of a drama presentation before a judging panel, their peers and invited family members. The teams are judged on their drama skills and booklet solutions.
The competitions will be taking place as follows, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the New Street Education Centre (3250 New Street, Burlington):
· Junior: Preliminary A — March 27, 2012; Preliminary B — March 28, 2012
· Intermediate: Preliminary A — April 3, 2012; Preliminary B — April 4, 2012
· Finals: Junior, April 17, 2012; Intermediate — April 18, 2012
