Jeff Blackwell to take on new role; Dane Tutton to manage Burlington East Schools
At the Halton District School Board’s January 6, 2010 meeting, trustees approved the placement of Superintendent of Education Jeff Blackwell to head the Board’s Program Services department. Superintendent of Education Dane Tutton was also assigned a new role, heading the Burlington East Family of Schools.
“We have a strong leadership team,” says Wayne Joudrie, Director of Education with the Halton District School Board. “Both Dane and Jeff have a wealth of experience, skills and strengths they will bring to their new roles – all to the benefit of Halton’s students.”
Jeff Blackwell has been a Superintendent of Education with the Halton District School Board for six years, during which time his portfolio responsibilities have included supervising the East Burlington Family of Schools, System Leadership Development and Succession Planning and Change Management.
“I’m pleased to be able to continue the focus of supporting student achievement and engagement in every school every day,” says Blackwell. “I’m committed to inspiring and supporting learning for every one of our Halton students through work with Program Services and system staff.”
Superintendent of Education Dane Tutton has had a significant leadership career in Halton as well as at the Ministry of Education. Dane's contributions have been in the roles of principal and Superintendent, with a focus in the areas of information technology, e-learning, school reform, and administrative support for families of schools.
“I’m looking forward to working with our team of outstanding school administrators,” says Dane Tutton, “particularly in the Burlington East family of schools, as well as our system staff. Working together has been the cornerstone to our success in student achievement and I’m excited about this opportunity to continue striving toward that goal.”
The official transition date for Dane and Jeff to assume their new roles will be February 1, 2010.
