Annual Organizational Meeting of Halton District School Board held December 2

At the Annual Organizational Meeting of the Halton District School Board, held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, trustees named their candidates for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair for the upcoming year.

Bruce Jones was nominated for the position of Chair by trustee Philippa Ellis, with the nomination seconded by Jennifer Hlusko.  Bruce Jones’ acclamation to the role of Chair was confirmed by a vote (show of hands) according to the Board’s new by-laws.  This is Bruce Jones’ second year in the role of Chair.

Janie Hames was the only nominee for the position of Vice-Chair.  The nomination was put forward by out-going Vice-Chair Donna Danielli and seconded by Mary Elizabeth Dilly.  Janie Hames was also acclaimed to the role, but confirmed by a vote (show of hands) from her trustee colleagues.

Trustees continued the December 2 business meeting, however did not complete the agenda prior to recessing at 10 p.m.  The next meeting of the Halton District School Board will be a special Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 6 p.m.  This will allow trustees to complete outstanding business on the December 2 agenda.. 

The regular schedule of Board meetings will resume in January, with the entire upcoming meeting schedule for the Halton District School Board posted on the Board’s website at:  www.hdsb.ca
