Exploring The Pampered Child Syndrome on Thursday, April 8

March 29, 2010: Community and Parents Partnering for Kids and Oakville Parent Education Network hosting event designed to help parents encourage children to develop resiliency.

Do you sometimes wonder if children and youth expect to be given everything but then still want more, need to be rescued from their mistakes or constantly entertained?

Community and Parents Partnering for Kids (C.A.P.P.) and Oakville Parent Education Network will host well-respected psychologist Dr. Maggie Mamen at the Operator Engineering Banquet Centre (2245 Speers Rd, Oakville) on Thursday, April 8, from 7:15-9:30 p.m. where she’ll discuss The Pampered Child Syndrome.

Come and explore well-intentioned, child-driven parenting and learn how to encourage children to develop resilience, independence, and healthy lifestyle choices. Parents, teachers, and other professionals will enjoy what Mamen has to share.

A dynamic, humorous and celebrated speaker, Mamen is a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families. She is also the author of three books and has appeared on radio and television programs across the country.

Admission to Mamen’s speech is free however donations toward future speakers will be gratefully accepted.

American Sign Language-English Interpreters will be available.
