May 19, 2011: At its May 18, 2011 meeting, trustees with the Halton District School Board voted to approve the appointment of Jeff Blackwell to the role of Associate Director.
Blackwell’s 30-plus year career has included responsibilities as a teacher and school administrator (vice-principal and principal) within Halton, and most recently as Superintendent of Education with responsibilities for the Program department.
“Jeff has led and supported student achievement and excellence in teaching and leadership across many portfolios including School Programs, Family of Schools, Leadership Development, and Change Management,” says David Euale, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “In all capacities, Jeff has demonstrated his commitment to students and a clear focus on effective instruction. I welcome Jeff to the position, and look forward to working closely with him to further our progress in student achievement.”
The position of Associate Director became vacant with Ruth Peden’s retirement earlier this year.
“I am excited about this opportunity, and look forward to working with my senior administrative colleagues, teachers, administrators and trustees in Halton in striving to meet the Board’s goals for student success and achievement,” says Blackwell. “It continues to be my professional honour to work with the dedicated staff across our system to support high levels of student achievement and engagement in their programs and pathways.”
“The Halton District School Board is fortunate to have strong and committed leadership at all levels of our organization,” continues Blackwell. “We are truly an organization that does grow and learn and continues to succeed together. I’m delighted and privileged to have this opportunity to continue serving the students, staff and communities of Halton in this new role.”
Blackwell will begin his transition into the Associate Director role immediately.
