April 19, 2011: Beginning April 18 through to May 20, 2011, all parents with children in the Halton District School Board are invited to complete the annual School Effectiveness Survey.   The survey is available via the Halton District School Board website at www.hdsb.ca and will ask parents to provide feedback about issues related to school effectiveness, such as: learning opportunities; relationships; community and communication; belonging; school culture and climate.

Participation in this survey will provide important data that will be used to shape school and Board-wide planning for improving student learning.  Results of the survey will be published in early fall 2011.

“We value the input of parents and hope parents will take the time to complete the survey,” says David Euale, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “The parents data will be analysed in correlation with the student, teaching and non-teaching staff surveys.  Input from all these groups will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of schools and help us to improve learning for all our students.”

Although the survey is anonymous, to gain access to the on-line survey parents must have their child’s Ontario Education Number. This number is located at the top of the student’s Provincial Report Card.  Parents will be able to respond to the survey once for each child in the Halton District School Board.

Parents will be able to complete the survey from home or any place they are able to access the Internet. Parents without Internet access may make arrangements through their child’s school.
