April 28, 2010: Students representing each of the Halton District School Board’s elementary and secondary schools will be honoured at the 26th annual “Celebration of Student Excellence” to be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010. This special event will take place at Milton District High School, 396 Williams Avenue, Milton, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
More than 500 parents, principals, trustees, teachers and school administrators are expected to take part in recognizing outstanding student achievement at this event.
In total, 97 students will be honoured during the evening’s festivities. These students are representative of exceptional qualities in at least two of the following areas: academic, vocational and athletic fields, self-improvement, community work, citizenship and student leadership, or specific criteria that reflects the school’s unique priorities.
“Our Student Excellence evening recognizes the outstanding achievements of the young people in our schools today,” says Wayne Joudrie, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “Parents, teachers, and community members all contribute to helping these students achieve in various endeavors. We welcome this opportunity to acknowledge their successes.”
Cogeco will be airing the Student Awards of Excellence on May 18 at 7 p.m. on Cogeco cable channel 14 in Milton, and on May 18 and May 22 at 8 p.m. on Cogeco cable channel 23 in Burlington/Oakville.
