Community and Parents Partnering for Kids (C.A.P.P.) is presenting well-respected teacher and writer Michael Reist on Tuesday, March 2 for a speaking engagement called, Boys and Girls Learn Differently: How Gender Differences Influence Learning and Behaviour.
The event, from 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., takes place at Gary Allan High School/New Street Education Centre, located at 3250 New Street, Burlington.
Reist is a teacher with more than 27 years of experience in the classroom. He is currently head of the English Department at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School in Caledon East. He is a frequent speaker to local parent groups and education conferences where his workshops on bullying and how boys and girls learn differently have drawn large crowds and enthusiastic responses.
Admission to Reist’s speech is free however donations toward future speakers will be gratefully accepted.
American Sign Language-English Interpreters will be available.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, April 8, from 7:15 p.m.-9:30 p.m., Burlington C.A.P.P. and Oakville OPEN will host psychologist Dr. Maggie Mamen at the Operator Engineering Banquet Centre (2245 Speers Rd, Oakville). She will discuss The Pampered Child Syndrome.
C.A.P.P. for Kids coalition members include Halton District School Board, Halton Catholic District School Board, Halton Region, Halton Regional Police Services, Reach Out Centre for Kids/Ontario Early Years and Burlington Public Library.
