December 6, 2011: More than 50 Nelson High School students, making up the dance, music, drama and technical team, will be participating in a unique event called, Not Just Art (It's More), at the new Burlington Performing Arts Centre, 440 Locust Street. It will be held tomorrow night (Wednesday, December 7, 2011) starting at 7:30 p.m. The Burlington Performing Arts Centre officially opened last Friday (December 3, 2011).
A performance that includes dance, music, drama and musical theatre, Nelson High School students have completed all of the writing, organizing, directing and choreography. There will also be student artwork on display in the lobby.
“This is a chance for students to perform some of their drama, dance, music and musical theatre work in this beautiful new facility,” says Karen Page, Music and Drama teacher at Nelson High School. “Our hope is it will create some long-term ties between the school community and the cultural community.”
This is a partnership between the arts centre and the Burlington high school’s drama and musical theatre class. The Burlington Performing Arts Centre has agreed to become a community partner in Nelson’s Drama and Music Specialist High Skills Major program. This special Not Just Art (It's More) event is borne directly out of that partnership.
Tickets can be purchased on the Burlington Performing Arts Centre’s website, through a link on the Nelson High School website or at the box office at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, located at 440 Locust Street.
