November 4, 2010: The Halton District School Board will hold the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Oakville high school on Tuesday, November 9, 2010.  The ceremonies will take place at the school site, located in Secondary Review Area (SRA) #103 as indicated below: 

                   Date:   Tuesday, November 9, 2010  
                   Time:  1 p.m.
                   Location: 2820 Westoak Trails Blvd, Oakville 

Directions:  School site is located on Westoak Trails Blvd between Third Line and Bronte Road. 


This new high school will help address growth occurring in the Westoak Trails community.  Construction of the high school will begin in January 2010, with the official opening anticipated for September 2012. 

The three-storey school will feature barrier-free accessibility for approximately 1200 students and staff, a triple gym, studio/theatre, specialty classrooms and an all-weather running track.  The Halton District School Board has awarded the architectural tender to Peter Hossack and Associates Inc. of Mississauga. The construction contract will be tendered in late fall.  

In attendance at the ceremony will be Halton District School Board trustees, senior administrative staff, members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 20 and local and regional government officials. Members of the community are welcome to attend.
