November 18, 2010: The Halton District School Board has appointed Lucy Veerman as its new Superintendent of Business and Treasurer, effective December 13, 2010.
With 21 years experience in financial management in an educational environment, Lucy will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role of Superintendent of Business for the Halton District School Board. Lucy holds certification as a Chartered Accountant and as a Business Supervisory Officer, and is currently the Manager of Budget Services for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.
At the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Lucy also served as Acting Superintendent of Business. and prior to amalgamation of the school boards, was the Acting Superintendent of Business for the Hamilton Board.
“Lucy’s comprehensive knowledge of financial management combined with her history as a collaborative leader will be an asset for this Board,” says David Euale, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “We look forward to welcoming Lucy to our senior administrative team.”
The Superintendent of Business role was vacated when Steven Parfeniuk resigned at the end of September to accept a position at Sheridan College.
“In her previous roles, Lucy was known for her strong financial accountability and transparency in this public role,” says Gerry Ockenden, Chair of the Halton District School Board. “Her commitment to student achievement, and her belief in fostering and inspiring teams will be a natural extension of Lucy’s values, and will certainly benefit the Halton District School Board.”
