Public input sought in naming three new elementary schools 

Suggestion forms distributed to neighbour hood elementary schools and libraries

The Halton District School Board encourages public input in the naming of its three new elementary schools currently under construction and scheduled to open in September 2010.  

Two of the school are located in Oakville – in the Palermo community at 2561 Valleyridge Drive, and in the Clearview community at 2860 Kingsway Drive. The third school is located in Milton at 640 Yates Drive.

Suggestion forms and ballot boxes have been placed in the neighbourhood public libraries and the elementary schools where the future students currently attend.   

For the Palermo school in Oakville, suggestion forms may be submitted at: 
• Heritage Glen Public School
• Captain R. Wilson Public School
• Lorne Skuce /Palermo Public School
• Glen Abbey Branch Public Library (1415 Third Line)
 
For the Clearview school in Oakville, suggestion forms may be submitted at:
• Chisholm Public School
• Maple Grove Public School
• E.J. James Public School
• Linbrook Public School
• Clearview Branch Public Library (1148 Winston Churchill Blvd) 

For the Milton #4 school, suggestion forms may be submitted at: 
• Bruce Trail Public School
• Chris Hadfield Public School
• Sam Sherratt Public School
• Hawthorne Village Public School
• Milton Public Libraries (Main Branch at 45 Bruce Street and the Beaty Branch at 945 Fourth Line)      

Suggested names may be submitted until Friday, January 29, 2010.  Entries may also be submitted via the Halton District School Board website at www.hdsb.ca, faxed to (905) 335-4447 or mailed to the Communications Department, Halton District School Board, 2050 Guelph Line, Burlington, Ontario L7R 3Z2.

Submissions must indicate for which school the name should be considered. Please include your name, address, telephone number and a short rationale for the name you have suggested.

It is anticipated that Halton District School Board trustees will select names for the new schools at a Board meeting in February 2010.
