Grades SK, 1, 2 and 3 students from Halton's newest school, Emily Carr Public School in Oakville, travelled to Burlington to help decorate the J.W. Singleton Education Centre’s Christmas tree.
About 30 students were accompanied by Elizabeth Hudson, Principal of Emily Carr Public School, teachers Patrick Cudmore, Sandra Shewchuk and Educational Assistant, Linda DeGroot. The students brought with them the decorations they'd made in class and were extremely proud to decorate the Christmas tree in the main foyer of the Board office.
After meeting the Director, superintendents and some JWS staff members, students enjoyed cookies and juice as they sat back and admired the tree they'd made so festive.
Before their bus arrived, students had a tour of the Board Room. Superintendent Tricia Dyson spoke to the students about the important decisions made in the Boardroom by a group of people called "trustees". She explained to students that one such decision made by the Board of Trustees, was to build their new school in Oakville!
JWS staff will enjoy the students' handmade decorations this holiday season.
Thank you Emily Carr Public School students!
