Aldershot High School’s Grade 9 integrated students designed, built and organized a ‘Games Day’ March 25 for the residents of Burlington’s Hampton Terrace and Park Avenue Manor retirement homes.
The class was divided into leadership teams based on their strengths and preferences to implement the games day. Teams were created to tackle various jobs and duties including building and communication, which was responsible for networking with the senior homes. Other students were responsible to design the look of the games.
Woodworking teacher Paul White oversaw the building of the games that included ring and horseshoe toss.
Through this project, students were able to incorporate English curriculum components like awareness of audience, verbal communication, and reflecting and responding through a questionnaire and art design.
