On Monday May 7, Speech-Language Pathologists from Halton District School Board received a cheque from Harmonize for Speech – a service organization of barbershop singers who raise and donate funds to school boards for speech and language programs.
The $1,200 donation will be used by the Board’s 13 Speech-Language Pathologists to purchase technological equipment for students.
Speech-Language Pathologists help if a student is having difficulty:
· Developing communication skills;
· Producing the sounds of speech;
· Understanding oral language;
· Using spoken language, and/or
· Acquiring early literacy skills
The HDSB Speech-Language Pathologists offer a variety of services including:
· Assessment and Consultation
· Classroom Observations
· Strategies and Techniques to Facilitate Language Understanding and Use
· Strategies and Techniques to foster Early Literacy Development
· Liaise with Community Professionals
· Direct support to specific HDSB classes and programs
