Grade 5 students from Palermo Public School got a lesson in civic government last week from Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.
Student had the opportunity to ask Burton questions about his job and how local government works. The visit helped students in their study of the levels of government, which is part of their Social Studies program.
Students asked Burton questions about the difficulty of being mayor and his proudest accomplishments.
“It’s a great job” being mayor, Burton told the students.
Principal Chris Alexiou said he hopes the talk was a “motivator for students to get involved in their communities in future.”
