Halton District School Board secondary visual art teachers have their paintings, drawings, photographs and other works now on display as part of a three-week art show called, Front of the Class.

Hosted by ArtWorks Oakville, the 2nd annual exhibit is being held at the Oakville Town Hall (1225 Trafalgar Rd). An opening reception took place on Monday, September 13, where people met with the teacher artists who are usually busy teaching Board students the skills of making art.

The exhibit, free to visitors to attend during Town Hall opening hours, will conclude Thursday, October 7.

ArtWorks is an incorporated, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and showcasing visual artists at several public spaces in Oakville.

There will be around 50 pieces included in Front of the Class, some of which will be for sale.

“The Front of the Class art show is a wonderful showcase of the talent of our secondary visual arts teachers. It is no wonder that these artist teachers can draw such creativity and skill out of our students,” says Mary Stevenson-Baratto, Halton District School Board’s Instructional Coordinator for the Arts. “The Oakville Town Hall is a great location where the public can have easy access to enjoy the work, skill and creativity of the Board secondary art faculty.”
