Parents, students and the community still have time to visit the 7th annual secondary school art exhibit this week at the New Street Education Centre (3250 New St., Burlington). It wraps up Friday afternoon.
The show continues today and tomorrow between 8:30 a.m. and 9 p.m., and on Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Hundreds of pieces of student artwork are on display. Created by Grade 9-12 students from schools across the Halton District School Board, the works of art incorporate painting, sketching, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
"This is our 7th annual Halton Secondary Art Show and it is truly a fantastic show," says Mary Stevenson-Baratto, Coordinator for the Arts for the Halton District School Board. "The artistic skill and visual messaging is outstanding. All of our high schools have sent very impressive pieces in a large variety of mediums. Both students and teachers should be congratulated for being able to produce such quality work. The skill, creativity and critical thinking expressed by our Board art students are truly amazing.”
