T.A. Blakelock High School honoured the latest inductees of its six-year-old Hall of Fame October 15.
Nancy Walker, a renowned jazz pianist and composer, and Mark Bramer, a professor of wood technology at Conestoga College in Kitchener and master cabinetmaker, happily accepted their place into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony on October 14.
The Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to recognize the many accomplishments of Blakelock graduates in their respective fields. There have been more than 10,000 graduates from TAB since it opened in 1958.
The ceremony took place in a school assembly, where inductees provided an inspirational message to students. The celebration is a community celebration attended by Halton District School Board officials and municipal, provincial and federal politicians as well as past inductees and school staff members.
Current TAB students connect with the inductees beforehand, create biographies and introduce the inductees at the assembly. The inductees address students as part of the celebration, providing a message of hope and good will.
Past inductees in the hall of Fame include scholars, academics, politicians, athletes, performing and visual artists, musicians, scientists, humanitarians and journalists.
