Top of the class!
Jaymin (Jeong Min) Kim, Robert Bateman High School student, can now boast of being "perfect"!
Halton District School Board's Jaymin (Jeong Min) Kim is one of Greater Toronto's top-ranking high school graduates. Jaymin achieved the highest score possible on the SAT – 2,400. Of the more than one million students who write the test annually, that's a feat achieved by only a couple of hundred! Jaymin, who plans to attend Harvard to study economics, averaged 99 percent in the International Baccalaureate Program at Robert Bateman High School.
Kim's family immigrated to New Zealand from Korea when she was four and spent 10 years there before arriving in Canada.
"I chose Harvard because I wanted to continue with my experiences in different countries, since I’ve lived in quite a few,” she said. "Harvard seemed a really great place to start something new."
She's hoping to study economics and also literature, which she enjoys. "Harvard seems like a school that encourages students to lead a balanced lifestyle," she adds. "It's not all just academics, but music and art as well."
Asked about where her academic drive comes from Jaymin says, "It's something I’ve always tried my best in, with all the support from my parents, family, my grandparents. It's something I enjoy doing."
