Board Improvement Plan
The HDSB Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement
Board Improvement Planning has Two Main Purposes:
1. To improve student learning, achievement and well-being
2. To build capacity and sustainability in the skill and knowledge of educators
Our Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement Process:
- Analyse system-wide quantitative and qualitative data to plan specific student achievement goals
- Determine targeted, evidence‐based strategies/actions that will deliver gains in student achievement
- Allocate resources including professional learning needed to implement the targeted, evidence‐based strategies/activities
- Assign monitoring actions related to implementation
- Evaluate the system-wide progress in meeting identified SMART goals
The Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement is:
Informed by School Improvement Plans and the School Effectiveness Framework School Self-Assessments and District Review Processes.
It is a precise description of system-wide goals and actions that will lead to improved student learning and achievement for every student, specifically:
A. High levels of student achievement
-Reaching and exceeding the target of 75% of students achieving at the provincial standard in Grade 6
-Reaching and exceeding the 85% graduation rate
B. Reduced gaps in student achievement
-Reducing the gap in achievement for those groups of students who, for whatever reason, need extra help
C. Increased public confidence in publicly funded education
