Internet Filtering
The Halton District School Board does not filter the internet. However we log usage of the internet and know which computer accessed which websites.
We have focused our resources on teaching Digital Citizenship:
“Students demonstrate personal development to be lifelong learners because they are aware of the human, cultural and social issues related to technology and they practice ethical and legal digital behaviour.”[1]
Students are expected to use the internet appropriately. The Acceptable Use Procedure outlines the appropriate use of the internet and defines the appropriate behaviours.
The Halton District School Board also provides the Elementary Student Internet Tools and Secondary Student Internet Tools page to guide students to effective websites.
Other Devices
Many personally owned devices have their own data plan. The Halton District School Board cannot filter nor log the internet access of these devices when they use a cellular network.
