PARC 14 Information Requests
Question 1 What is the site size of the Clearview school site?
Answer:
The site is approximately 1.99 hectares or 4.92acres

Question 2 Facility Condition Index Chart
Question 3 Would a new school take advantage of energy efficient construction?

Yes, the current new school designs used by the Halton District School Board include a number of items that reduce the buildings’ energy consumption by 20% from basic code required designs.

Some of these features are:
- loop reservoir for heat pump systems
- building automation control system for energy conservation
- lighting and ventilation designs

It should be noted that even with efficient designs, new schools consume more energy than older schools due to ventilation quantities, air conditioning, electrical services etc.

Question 4 Would there be support from clubs and/or the Town for reconstruction of soccer pitches with irrigation systems?

Without specific conversations with groups about specific sites, these comments are based on past experiences between group/municipalities and school boards. If the Board has a requirement to provide certain facilities for educational purposes, there will not be assistance in the funding; however, to enhance a facility in adding irrigation there may be some interest. In general, the groups will look to provide incremental funding for enhancements above the school board level of need.

When additional features are added, using outside funding, there is generally an interest by that group to make additional use of the site. Arrangements for increased access can be complicated due to the various user group needs. If outside groups have an opportunity to access or enhance a site of their own, they will generally put additional funding into that facility before they would attempt to share a school site. Having said that, there are situations where arrangements have been worked out.

Question 4 What is the process in the event of a closure of existing schools? What would the likely use be of the real estate that remains?

If a school closure occurs there is a regulation that outlines the steps to be followed by the Board when offering the site for sale. In general, a member of other government agencies has prioritized access to the purchase and use of the site. Market value is the required benchmark for the sale price and the agency with the highest rating on the priority list would be deemed the successful offer; i.e. other school boards, government, provincial, municipal, etc.

Redevelopment would be in accordance with local zoning by-laws. In most cases, this results in matching the existing neighbourhood with additional residential homes. Several sites have been closed and sold by the Halton District School Board. All have resulted in some residential units and a park or green space to meet local community needs.

Question 5 What are renovation charges for Pine Grove and Capital for Alexander's?

The Pine Grove Renovation, which is still in progress, has a budget of $453,861. Please note that this amount includes $60,000 in Furniture and Equipment.

The capital project for Alexander P.S. is worth $9,748,513. This amount as well includes furniture and equipment totally $451,458.
