Welcome Back!
Thank you to all parents and students who worked so hard in the spring to make sure all library books were returned or paid for. There are still a few outstanding books. If you have found Pine Grove Library books over the summer, please return them right away. Students who have not settled accounts at Pine Grove or any other Halton school, will not be permitted to sign out more books until they have either reurned or paid for the outstanding items.
Scholastic Book Fair comes to Pine Grove again this fall. Mark your calendars! Scholastic Book Fair (mostly English books with a small French selection) will run in the Pine Grove Library from Monday, October 3 through Thursday, October 6th. Details will follow. Watch the website and flyers home for more information.
The Pine Grove library consists of a collection of over 18 000 English and French resource items and serves approximately 730 students and 40 staff. The library collection houses materials for curriculum work and recreational reading. The books found in the library include picture books, beginner chapter books, chapter books, non-fiction books, reference, Caldecott Award Winners, and Newbery Award winners. There is also a professional collection for staff, which includes books, videos, books-on-tape and CDroms.
The goal of the library is to ensure all students and staffs are effective users of ideas and information so that they become life-long learners. As well as, provide students with an environment that supports and encourages all students to read. These goals will be accomplished by:
· providing access to materials many formats.
· providing instruction that allows all students to achieve success.
· motivating interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas in various formats.
· working collaboratively with staff to design strategies to the meet the individual needs of all students.
