A Name for our New School

The Board was presented with a shortlist of names for our new school at the meeting on Feb.17. Trustees will determine the name at the next Board meeting scheduled for March 3, 2010.
Once we have a name we can move ahead to determine our school team names, school mascot, colours, and a school song. We will of course engage our students, staff and community in these decisions.

Transition Update

Over the next month we will have a number of Transition planning events taking place.
As you may know we will be bringing all our current grade 1-6 students together at Pine Glen Soccer Centre on May 19 for Team Building activities.  The first planning meeting will take place at Pine Glen on Feb. 22.
Mr. Alexiou will meet with all the students coming to Palermo on March 3. He will visit Heritage Glen in the morning and Capt. Wilson in the afternoon.
Our next June Family day planning session will take place on March 9 and will include Transition Co-Chairs Angie Brown from Skuce, Brenda Kusmenko from Heritage Glen and Jessica Fraser from Capt. Wilson.

The Discovery Theme

You have probably received an email about our search for artefacts for the development of our Discovery theme. Our Committee will meet again on March 3 at 7:00 pm Lorne Skuce where we will move into the action phase of the development as we make decisions to develop concrete and tangible parts of our plan.
We encourage every family to submit an artefact the may be used in our building. There are bins set up in all the schools involved so if you can donate please do so as soon as you can.
