Winter Playday
This past week, Primary and Junior students at Cedar Ridge participated in a Winter Playday. This event was led by our Intermediate students, who came up with the idea of getting students outside to enjoy the winter weather, have fun, and get some exercise.
A huge thank you to the students and staff who organized and ran this wonderful event. It was a great reminder that when students are dressed for the weather, winter can be a time of great fun.
World Religion Day
Observed annually on the third Sunday in January, World Religion Day promotes interfaith understanding, inclusion, and peace by highlighting the shared values and commonalities among world religions. Initiated in 1950 by the Baháʼí faith, this day encourages learning through dialogue and reflection.
At Cedar Ridge, we are grateful to foster a strong sense of belonging by affirming all identities and learning about the wide range of beliefs represented within our school community. These conversations help us learn from one another and strengthen our shared sense of community.

We look forward to welcoming families to our upcoming School Council meeting. Whether you are a voting member or simply interested in participating, all are welcome. Topics will include fundraising allocation and upcoming school events.
CDR Yearbook Orders – Due May 12
We are excited to share that the Cedar Ridge Yearbook is now on sale. To help keep costs lower, this year’s yearbook will be offered in softcover format only and there is no fundraising component.
While there is plenty of time to order, families are encouraged to place orders early, as late orders cannot be accepted. Please refer to the Yearbook Information poster for ordering details.
Black Excellence Assembly – Family Input (Repost)
We invite Cedar Ridge families to share their thoughts on what Black Excellence and Leadership mean to you. Family perspectives are an important part of shaping this meaningful assembly.
Please complete the “Family Thoughts” Google Form by January 30, allowing staff sufficient time to prepare the presentation. Thank you for taking time to reflect and share as a family.
Attention Grade 1 Families: French Immersion Registration
French Immersion begins in Grade 2 within the HDSB. Families with Grade 1 students who are interested in the French Immersion program are encouraged to review information and resources on the French Immersion webpage of the HDSB website.
Families who missed the Tiger Jeet Singh PS information session may wish to review the “Considering French Immersion – FAQs” handout (January 2026).
