Aberdeen Day Treatment Program
A specialized education and treatment program supporting secondary students through individualized learning and therapeutic supports delivered in partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK).
The Aberdeen Day Treatment Program supports secondary students whose learning is connected to care, treatment or rehabilitation needs. The program provides a structured learning environment that combines academic instruction with therapeutic supports.
The program is delivered by a Halton District School Board teacher in partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK). Students work toward earning their high school credits while receiving support from both a teacher and a Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC).

How the Program Works
Students participate in individualized learning programs designed to support both academic progress and personal development.
- Opportunities to work toward secondary school credits
- Support from both an HDSB teacher and Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC)
- A focus on developing social skills, life skills and self-regulation strategies
- Learning experiences that take place in both classroom and community settings
- Individualized programming based on each student’s strengths, interests and needs
Learning experiences emphasize literacy, numeracy and Healthy Active Living while supporting the development of academic, personal and social skills.
Interdisciplinary Supports
Students are supported through a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach. This team may include:
- Psychologists
- Behaviour therapists
- Child and youth counsellors
- Other professionals as needed
This collaborative approach helps ensure students receive the supports needed to build skills and confidence in both learning and daily life.

The program operates off-site at the Nelson Youth Centre and provides a supportive environment for both classroom learning and community-based experiences.
Length of Program
The average length of stay is approximately one semester, with programming designed to help students develop the skills and strategies needed for continued success in their educational journey.
