Woodview Programs at HDSB

Woodview programs support students whose learning is impacted by social, emotional or mental health challenges.

Delivered in partnership with community agencies, these programs combine academic instruction with therapeutic supports to help students build skills, confidence and well-being while continuing their learning.

The Woodview – Rattlesnake Point Elementary program supports students in Grades 1–3 who may be experiencing early mental health challenges that impact their learning and well-being. The program provides a structured learning environment that combines educational programming with therapeutic supports.

The program is delivered through a partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) and is located at Rattlesnake Point Public School.

About the Program

This intensive program runs for approximately 20 weeks and is delivered through two sessions during the school year. A multidisciplinary team works together to identify and support students experiencing early mental health difficulties.

The team may include:

  • Social workers
  • Child and youth workers (CYWs)
  • A Halton District School Board teacher

Student Supports

Students and families may receive a range of supports through the program, including:

  • Individual counselling
  • Family counselling
  • Group counselling
  • In-home support
  • Parent training
  • Educational and psychological consultation
  • Psychiatric referral
  • Liaison and advocacy with community resources and professionals

Educational Program

Academic learning skills are a key focus of the program. Instruction is aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations and integrates literacy and numeracy learning appropriate for students in Grades 1–3.

Program Follow-Up

Following completion of the program, booster sessions may be offered to support students and families as they continue their transition back to their regular school setting.

The program provides day treatment services that integrate academic learning with therapeutic supports for both students and their families.

The program is delivered through a partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) and is located at Rattlesnake Point Public School.

About the Program

The school day is divided into academic and therapeutic components. Students participate in structured learning opportunities while also receiving targeted therapeutic supports.

Educational Program

Academic instruction is provided by a qualified teacher and focuses on Ontario curriculum expectations in literacy and numeracy. The program supports students in maintaining progress in their learning while addressing social and emotional needs.

Therapeutic Supports

Students and families may participate in a variety of therapeutic supports designed to strengthen social, emotional and behavioural skills. Supports may include:

  • Social skills development
  • Cognitive behavioural strategies
  • Anger management
  • Strategies for coping with high conflict or stressful situations
  • Individual and group counselling with child and youth workers
  • Individual, sibling and group support for families provided by a social worker

Length of Program

The length of stay in the program is determined based on the individual needs of each student. Progress is regularly reviewed throughout the program to support student success and planning for next steps.

Academic instruction focuses on Ontario curriculum expectations in literacy and numeracy. Students participate in structured learning experiences that support the development of academic skills alongside personal growth.

Students and families may participate in a range of therapeutic supports designed to strengthen social, emotional and behavioural skills. Supports may include:

  • Cognitive behavioural strategies

The program combines academic learning with therapeutic supports to help students build skills and confidence for success in school and daily life.

The program is delivered in partnership with Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services and is located at the Milton Staff Learning Centre.

About the Program

The DANO program uses a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach to support students experiencing mental health challenges such as:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Separation anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • School phobia
  • Depression
  • Dysthymia

Students receive therapeutic support through Child and Youth Workers (CYWs) and Social Workers who work collaboratively with students and families.

Educational Program

The academic program for each student is individualized and strength-based. A qualified teacher supports students through a range of learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Learning experiences emphasize credit accumulation, literacy and numeracy, while also supporting the development of learning strategies and social skills in a supportive environment.
