Field Trips - Updated
University of Waterloo
Last Friday, our Energy, Engineering & Robotics SHSM students visited the University of Waterloo to complete a project management certification. Through guided discussions and hands-on activities, we explored how effective planning, communication, and decision-making contribute to successful projects. The experience helped us better understand real-world project management and how to approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
We also had the opportunity to tour the campus, including the Student Life Centre, the Library, and the TC building. The tour gave us a feel for student life and the academic environment at Waterloo, and offered a meaningful glimpse into what university life could be like. Overall, the trip was both educational and inspiring, strengthening our leadership skills while introducing us to one of Canada’s leading universities.
BSA STEM McMaster
After that, we heard from Kobina Baiden, coordinator of McMaster’s Black Student Success Centre, along with a few current students who shared what life is like studying STEM at Mac. Niyin Baiyewun then gave us a tour of the campus, including the STEM buildings and the Black Student Success Centre.
We also ran into a few former Garth Webb students before wrapping up with lunch in the Student Life Centre. Thank you to everyone at McMaster for making us feel welcome, it was such a great day of connection, learning, and community.
