Weekly Update from Limehouse Public School
March 13, 2026
Kindness, Gratitude and a Growth Mindset
Update on Bus 815 as of 4 pm
This bus is stuck North of Side Road 22 along 6th Line, South of Hwy 7.
Messaging went out to all families at 3:54 to notify of the delay of approx 30-45 minutes.
They are waiting for a mechanic to arrive. Alternatively, another bus will transfer the students.
NOTE: They will allow parents to pick up the students from this location. Just be aware that the situation is fluid and that parents may go to the side only to discover that the bus has left.
Dear Limehouse Families,
As the bells ring and the hallways fall quiet this afternoon, I want to extend my warmest thanks to our entire school community for an incredible winter term.
It has been a season of deep learning and growth here at Limehouse. From the buzz of new literacy milestones in our primary classrooms to the collaborative spirit shown on the playground and in our extracurriculars, our students continue to inspire us every day with their resilience and curiosity.
To our families: thank you for your ongoing partnership, your presence at school events, and the support you provide your children at home. Education is a journey we take together, and we are grateful for the vibrant community you help create.
Whether your March Break involves travel, local adventures, or simply some well-deserved downtime at home, I hope this week provides your family with the opportunity to reconnect and recharge.
We look forward to welcoming all our students back, refreshed and ready for the spring term, on Monday, March 23.
Wishing you a safe and joyful break!
Warmly,
Mr Jones and the Limehouse Staff
World Water Day and the Great Gulp!
On Wednesday March 25th we will be participating in The Great Gulp for World Water Day. Please send your student with a reusable water bottle so they can participate in this fun and educational event.
International Day of Forests and Earth Hour!
On Friday March 27th we will be honouring the International Day of Forests (March 21st) and participating in Earth Hour (March 28th). We will turn off the lights and electronics and head outside to the forest for a whole school hike. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather on Friday.
The Roxy Clothing Swap!
Limehouse will be a drop off location for the community clothing swap taking place at The Roxy Centre on April 11th (see poster attached). Please bring clean outgrown or unused clothing and/or shoes, for children and adults, to the bins located at the front of our school before Thursday, April 9th at 3PM. We appreciate your support.
STEM Night:
Following up on the great success of last year's STEM night, Limehouse School Council is happy to bring Stemotics Canada back again for another fun filled evening this year!
We are thrilled to offer a hands-on, age-appropriate STEM experience designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners. Stemotics programs are carefully structured by grade level to ensure every child is engaged, challenged, and inspired. This opportunity is able to be brought back to Limehouse thanks to the money raised during Santa Breakfast earlier this school year.
Day: Thursday
Date: March 26, 2026
Timings : 5:30 to 7:30 PM
For our JK–SK students, children will explore motion and simple machines using LEGO WeDo. Through fun and interactive builds like an Alligator or Carousel, they will discover how belts, pulleys, motors, and simple coding work together to create movement. This program is perfect for introducing our youngest learners to engineering concepts in a playful and supportive environment.
For Grades 1–3, students will step into the world of creative robotics with LEGO SPIKE Essentials. They will build exciting projects such as a Dancing Robot or Satellite while learning how to use motors and sensors. Through guided coding activities, children will strengthen their problem-solving skills and logical thinking — all while having fun bringing their creations to life.
For Grades 3–5, we are offering an engaging 3D Modelling & Printing experience. Students will design their own custom 3D keychain, learn the basics of computer-aided design (CAD), and understand how 3D printers transform digital ideas into real objects. Each child will take home their very own 3D printed creation — a memorable keepsake from the event.
In fact every child can have a 3D printed Keychain of their name if parents/guardians submit their first name in advance below.
STEM Night Form
This STEM Night is more than just building — it’s about creativity, innovation, teamwork, and confidence. Whether your child loves robots, design, or hands-on experiments, there is something exciting waiting for them.
Police Record Check (PRC) Update for Volunteers
– Effective April 1, 2026
In December 2025, the Ontario Ministry of Education introduced amendments to Police Record Check requirements under Ontario Regulation 298/25, effective April 1, 2026. As a result, school boards are now required to obtain a new Police Record Check (PRC) for all school volunteers every five years. A new PRC will also be required if there has been a lapse in submitting the Annual Offence Declaration.
These updated requirements apply to both current and new volunteers and are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. We sincerely appreciate the time and care our volunteers bring to our school community. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference, and we look forward to welcoming both returning and new volunteers. Learn more about the updated PRC requirements for volunteers and how to get involved in our school community by visiting the Volunteer in HDSB Schools webpage on the HDSB website (hdsb.ca).
Homestay Hosts Needed in Halton
Each year, the HDSB’s International Student Program (ISP) welcomes students into schools, and as a result, our programs benefit, our community benefits and local students create lifelong friendships and global connections. Canada Homestay Network (CHN) is currently looking for hosts in Halton for international students joining the HDSB during the 2026-2027 school year.
The HDSB has received a strong number of applications for the 2026-2027 school year, including several students who will be staying for a shorter period of approximately three to four months. This creates a great opportunity for families who may be interested in short-term hosting.
Hosting an international student is a unique and rewarding experience. You'll give a young learner a life-changing opportunity while creating lasting memories for your own family. As a host, you provide a private bedroom, three daily meals, access to WiFi and laundry and a welcoming, supportive and safe home. CHN offers full training, 24/7 support and a monthly stipend.
CHN will be hosting two virtual information sessions for families interested in learning more about becoming a homestay host:
