Principal’s Message

Whether you are new to our school community or returning, I want to warmly welcome you to Makwendam Public School, Home of the Roadrunners.

At Makwendam, our guiding model is “Be Your Best Self.” Like our Roadrunner, we believe in moving forward with purpose, resilience, and care for one another. Being our best looks different for each individual, and our work is rooted in the traits that help us grow every day: be grateful, be kind, be empathetic, be collaborative, be inclusive, and be brave.

These values guide how we support students academically, socially, and emotionally, and how we show up for one another as colleagues. We know that strong relationships are the foundation of learning, and that when students feel safe, included, and valued, they are more willing to take risks, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward.

As a staff, we value teamwork, reflection, and professional growth. We run this journey together—supporting one another, sharing our strengths, and being brave enough to try new approaches, have honest conversations, and keep students at the centre of our decisions.
