  • Halton District School Board appoints Oakville Trustee (Wards 5 & 7)

    Friday, May 2, 2025
    Media Releases

Audrey Wubbenhorst headshot cropped (1).jpgAt its Special Board meeting on Wednesday, April 30, the Halton District School Board appointed Audrey Wubbenhorst as Trustee for Oakville Wards 5 & 7.

The appointment process was initiated after Oakville (Wards 5 & 7) Trustee Kelly Amos formally announced her intention to retire in June. In accordance with the Ontario Education Act (221.1) and the HDSB’s Filling a Trustee Vacancy Governance Procedure, the Board opted to fill the vacancy through an appointment process, in which the successful candidate was chosen at a special board meeting open to the public.

Audrey Wubbenhorst will be formally sworn in to serve on the Board of Trustees by the end of June and will serve as a Trustee until Nov. 14, 2026 (end of the current term). Audrey brings a diverse background of professional and community experience to the role, including experience in governance, post-secondary education and financial services. Audrey’s background includes work in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on research, policy and stakeholder engagement. With a demonstrated interest in public education, advocacy and community engagement, Audrey has expressed her commitment to supporting student success and well-being.

    Quotes
“We are pleased to welcome Audrey Wubbenhorst to the Halton District School Board,” says Amy Collard, Chair of the Halton District School Board. “Audrey brings a strong commitment to student achievement, meaningful community engagement and creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. With a strong governance background and a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing public education today, Audrey brings valuable expertise that will enhance the Board’s work and position her for success in this important role. We look forward to the leadership and dedication Audrey will contribute to the HDSB, its students, staff and the broader Halton community.”

    HDSB 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan
The 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan sets direction and prioritizes the collective actions of all students, staff, families and community members. This plan ensures our efforts as an organization are aligned and coordinated to support more than 67,000 students, 11,000 staff and the broader HDSB community. The six commitments identified in this four-year plan intersect and overlap to ensure that we take a cohesive approach to fulfilling its objectives.
