Parents are invited to attend a bullying prevention presentation at Burlington's Lester B. Pearson High School (1433 Headon Rd.), led by members of the Toronto Argonauts football team, starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, the National Day of Pink.
Lester B. Pearson High School is teaming up with Sir Ernest MacMillan Public School to host school bullying prevention assemblies during the day. The parent presentation at Pearson will explain the how-tos of identification and protection of young people from the effects of bullying. Also, Halton Police and school administrators will share their role in preventing bullying and addressing bullying situations.
During the presentations, members of the Toronto Argos and club cheerleaders will provide testimonials of how bullying affected them while delivering a message to students that they can counter such behaviour by creating an environment of inclusivity and acceptance.
The first bullying prevention school assembly takes place at Pearson in the morning. Then, Argo team members and cheerleaders will head up the street to MacMillan school for an afternoon assembly. Students will be provided pink T-shirts that include school-designed logos. Each school has selected 10 student leaders who have been working over the past few months on how they will address bullying prevention at their schools.
