As part of Halton Music Showcase, hundreds of Halton District School Board students will perform next month on the stage of the FirstOntario Concert Hall at Hamilton Place before an expected audience of approximately 2,000 parents, friends and music supporters. This concert will take place Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
Approximately 1,000 students from Grades 4-12, representing more than 55 schools, began rehearsals in February in preparation for this annual spring concert. Performances include concert bands, choirs, and the Board's Halton Junior Jazz band.
A highlight of the evening will be the finale featuring a performance by an 800-member student choir.
“Halton Music Showcase is a celebration of the impact that music education has on the lives and development of our students. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for them to perform at a professional venue, which greatly enhances this impact" says Kevin McConvey, Instructional Program Leader for the Arts for the Halton District School Board. “This concert is the collaborative effort of Halton teachers, students and our community partners such as Long and McQuade of Burlington."
