Frontenac Public School (5140 Pinedale Ave., Burlington) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with an open house on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from noon-4 p.m..
The school, open to past and current students and staff members, as well as the community, will include decade rooms – from the 1960s to present day – and will feature music played at the time. There will also be food trucks and a raffle for two commemorative 50th anniversary Josten's class rings.
From 2:30-3 p.m., the school band and primary choir will play, followed by parting words from Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring and a photograph celebrating 50 years. The picture will be taken from the school rooftop and those in attendance will be asked to form the number '50'.
The school is creating a 50th anniversary cookbook, similar to the cookbook created during its 25th milestone celebration. The book will be available for sale on May 13 and proceeds will go directly to Frontenac Public School to enhance technology and improve the Kindergarten play area.
