The Halton Regional Police Service, Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board recently held the
Give Respect – Get Respect Movement. The aim is to spread the message of respect and healthy relationships, inviting all Halton community members to understand that we are the change.
Halton students in Grades 6-12 were challenged to develop creative arts-based public service messages of promoting positive relationships at home, school and in the community. Entries communicated positive messages about:
- Equity and diversity
- Personal well-being and self-esteem
- Healthy relationships and bullying prevention
- Building positive spaces and belonging at school and in the community
Winning categories include:
- Posters
- Videos
- Original music composition
The following are the results in the Halton District School Board: (Secondary and elementary student submissions were judged separately).
Elementary: James W. Hill Public School – Ethan Lee, Samuel Rammos, Ethan Kulik and Evan Muller
Secondary: Burlington Central High School – Jacob Lightfoot, Rutendo Sanganza, Julia Costa and Keara Coe
Sam Sherratt Public School – Shiuli Khanna
Iroquois Ridge High School – Nadia Lopez
Winning entries will be part of an ongoing bullying prevention campaign, and displayed publicly across Halton region.
