The Halton District School Board is proud to acknowledge EA Appreciation Day on Monday, December 11, 2017, as proclaimed by the Halton District Educational Assistants Association (HDEAA). EA Appreciation Day is devoted to appreciating and celebrating educational assistants and honouring the daily impact they make on student success and well-being.
The Halton District School Board employs more than 1,100 permanent and supply educational assistants. Guided by the values set out in the Board's Multi-Year Plan 2016-2020, educational assistants support students with evidence-based instructional strategies, resources and interventions differentiated to each individual student's strengths and needs.
The declaration of December 11 as EA Appreciation Day is to commemorate the day that HDEAA became a certified association on December 11, 1995, and 17 months later, signed the first collective agreement with the then Halton Board of Education.
“The Halton District School Board is thankful to have dedicated educational assistants who are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students," says Stuart Miller, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “The role of educational assistants is pivotal to the success of many of our students and we are grateful for their continuous support to our students, staff, parents and the system at large. Please join us in celebrating EA Appreciation Day and letting our educational assistants know how much we appreciate them."
