The Halton District School Board will welcome approximately 1,000 students to the 29th annual Halton Skills Competition on Wednesday, March 28 at Georgetown District High School (70 Guelph St., Georgetown)
The skills competition, which also includes the Halton Catholic District School Board, will take place from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., with the results revealed and celebrated at a medals presentation starting at 5:30 p.m. held in the gymnasium. Elementary and secondary students from across the Halton boards will compete in a wide range of skills, with ample opportunity to hone technological skills with a look toward future employment.
Teams of students in Grade 4-8 will take part in activities such as the Technology Challenge, Green Energy Challenge, Distance Challenge, Lego Robotics and TV/Video Production competitions.
Secondary school students will compete in numerous events including 2D Character Animation, Architectural Technology and Design, Auto Collision Repair, Auto Painting, Baking, Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Fashion Design, Floristry, Graphic Design, Hairstyling, Heating Systems Technician, Home Building, Horticulture and Landscape, Photography, Small Powered Equipment, TV & Video Production, Welding and more.
Career Showcase will take place during the March 28 skills competition, with representatives attending from the community, business, industry and education sectors.

This event, which involves the hard work and dedication of so many teachers, helps students hone their skills and compete in a friendly environment."
Successful students and teams will move on to the Ontario Skills Competition May 7-9 in Toronto and the Skills Canada Competition on June 4-5 in Edmonton.
