Norms for Council Meetings

  1. Mind our Time: Be mindful of our time and our agenda.

  2. Listen to Understand: Listen to understand the viewpoints and perspective of others at the table.

  3. Be Positive: We advocate for our entire school community.  The tone of our meetings is to be positive.  Any issues or discussion outside our meetings are to be communicated through proper process in order to be addressed at Council or by the school administration.

  4. Give Mutual Respect: Decision making is based on a quorum.  We will require good solid information before making a motion to vote.  For situations that arise of a conflict nature, we will follow the conflict resolution model.

Participate: We encourage everyone’s participation by listening to each other.  As a council, we would like to see all of our members present for meetings, but understand varying schedules.  Attendance is needed by voting members for a quorum, we do change meeting dates if required.
