Welcome to Pilgrim Wood Public School
Established in 1990 and located in the heart of Oakville’s Glen Abbey community, Pilgrim Wood Public School is a vibrant Kindergarten to Grade 8 Triple Track school offering English, French Immersion and Gifted programs. At Pilgrim Wood, we are deeply committed to the growth and success of every student. We celebrate our diversity, strive for academic excellence and prioritize well-being. Our students, staff and families work together to create a safe environment where students arrive each day empowered to take risks and evolve as lifelong learners. We are recognized for our inclusive environment and our dedication to meeting a wide range of student needs. This includes our self contained Gifted Program, which provides a learning environment that matches the unique cognitive, social and emotional needs of students with exceptionally high intellectual potential. The program aims to shift the depth, pace and complexity of the curriculum to meet the needs of our students.
At Pilgrim Wood we believe education extends far beyond the classroom walls. Our Outdoor Education program focuses on deepening students’ understanding of their local environment while promoting responsible stewardship in their everyday lives. As a designated Sustainable Future School (SFS), we endeavour to take a "whole-school" approach to the planet. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we bridge the gap between the classroom and the community through meaningful partnerships and local action. Whether it is caring for our trees during Mulch Fest, starting seeds in the classroom for our 12 raised bed food gardens, or making connections to the SDGs in our classrooms, we are committed to helping our students lead the way toward a greener future.
Pilgrim Wood’s music program is the heartbeat of the school. The program provides students with an immersive experience designed to fuel a passion for music. Our music program specializes in bringing students together and building a strong sense of community within our schools ensembles, musicals and choirs. The program is a vibrant and highly successful part of school life, offering students meaningful opportunities to grow as musicians. Ensembles that are offered for students include, The Intermediate Wind Ensemble and Junior Band, Primary and Junior Choir, and Jazz Band. This wide variety of ensembles ensures that students of all ages and experience levels have opportunities to play their instrument and develop their musical abilities. Through collaboration, performance, and shared musical experiences, students develop confidence, leadership skills, and a deep sense of belonging within our school community. At Pilgrim Wood, music is more than a subject; it is an experience that shapes character, strengthens community, and inspires lifelong learning.
