Principal’s Message
Welcome to the digital home of Silver Creek Public School. Whether you are a long-standing member of our community or are visiting us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you here. We are the home of the Stars academically and the Storm athletically!
At Silver Creek, we believe that a school should be more than just a building where we learn curriculum; it should be a supportive community where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued. We have a wide variety of extra-curricular and leadership opportunities for our students, and monthly we have an afternoon of creativity and Elective programming where students can choose what they would like to learn about based on their interests. We want Silver Creek to be a place where your identity, your culture, your interests, and your unique personality are celebrated. When you feel a deep sense of belonging, you are free to learn, to take risks, and to shine like a star. You are enough, exactly as you are.
Kindness is also an important value at our school. To us, kindness is a proactive choice we make each day, to make someone else’s day shine more brightly. We teach our students that small acts of kindness create a ripple effect that builds empathy and strengthens our entire school culture–if you can choose anything, choose to be kind! We also know that healthy communities aren't perfect; they are resilient. We believe in using restorative practices to help students navigate conflict in kind and positive ways. Our focus is on "repair work"—learning how to take responsibility for our actions and how to heal relationships when things go wrong. We believe that mistakes are some of our most powerful opportunities for growth. True leadership is often found in quiet moments of courage–when we have the courage to do the right thing, even when it’s the difficult thing. Kindness creates a true culture of care, honours identity, protects mental health and fuels learning.
Education is a collaborative journey between home and school built on the foundation of strong relationships. We value the diverse perspectives and lived experiences our families bring to our community. We invite you to stay connected through our website, our weekly "Silver Creek Star" newsletters, and our various community events. Together, we are building a future where kindness, courage, and creativity are at the heart of everything we do. Whether we are celebrating successes or doing the important repair work that comes with building strong relationships, our goal remains the same: to ensure every student can show up as their true, full self and know, without a doubt, that they belong here. Thank you for helping us build a school where every child can thrive,
Kelly Freitas Sarah Cannataro
