Friendship

Dance

  1. Foire Fantastique

    1. Kathrina and Cara will send an email regarding roles and responsibilities for Foire.

    2. Consider to assign leaders for each kiosk or category

    3. All members are encouraged to network within the community to get vendors and businesses to participate in our silent auction.

    4. We’ve received the same quote for inflatables as last year and Tracy is to approve the invoice and deposit.

  2. Friendship Dance

    1. Purchased similar snacks as last year with some new options. Starburst kept getting cancelled by Costco and in replacement, Fruit by the Foot was purchased.  Other choices include Teddy Pops, Chips, Fruitsations, Sour Patches.

    2. The location of the snack shack will be located in the Library this year.  Tables to be re-arranged for snack shack.

    3. This year, parent council will be working with Mrs. Titarelli and the student leadership crew.  The older students will be showing leadership with cleaning up the gym after the dance and perhaps educating the younger grades about the snack shack.  We may suggest a snack shack print out for easier selection for the candies and for the younger students.

    4. Ask Tracy to make a public announcement during the morning schedule and possibly included in google classrooms.

    5. Propose Loonie/Toonie day for left over snacks from Friendship Dance - we will check how much inventory is left.

  3. Volunteers

    1. Lead Volunteer coordinator for the Friendship Dance: Vasavi

    2. Volunteers will review the snack shack items on the day of the event.

    3. Vasavi will continue reminding parent volunteers that they must have their PRC, annual declaration and volunteer application form completed.

    4. Determine the class schedule for the dance and organize a schedule for the volunteers








Financials

Paul Davis Presentation

  1. The content was good and very positive feedback from parents on council who were able to attend the meeting. Although information was helpful, it was not engaging and few parents from the council attended the presentation.



 

Volunteers

  1. Volunteers in need for ticket sorting and handing them out for Friendship Dance.

 

Communications

  1. Email reminders before closing sales date and share the snack shack posters with teachers.

  2. Suggest to use marquise signs to make announcements for Friendship Dance.

  3. Spread the word for parent school council Instagram ID: @sunningdalecouncil

 

Other Business

  1. New Principal: Tracy Bardell

  2. Volunteers needed for sorting snack shack tickets - will confirm in whatsapp group.

School Administration Report

  1. Student and Well-Being, Bullying prevention and Intervention Plan


  • Caroline Novak presented a well-being and bullying prevention action plan.

  • Caroline Novak and Laura Titarelli work together on student mental health and well-being

  • Online bullying was the greatest percentage and the goal is to minimize this within the Sunningdale school community.

  • Discussed goals on minimizing bullying and how to improve on strategies.

  • There are intervention strategies that the school plans to implement.

  • Questions and concerns were raised by council members and were presented to Tracy.

  1. EQAO

  • EQAO results were presented and shared by Caroline Novak via google slides.

  • One of the ways to help students in the younger grades is to encourage them to use Knowledgehook and participate in math club.

Finances

  1. Overview of Friendship Dance

  • Friendship Dance sales were about $3700 but purchase of snacks were $3000.

  • Next year, the goal of snack orders need to be in smaller quantity.

 
 
  1. PIC/PRO Update

  • Cathy reported that PIC was approved for $500 and was used for Paul Davis.

  • The PRO Grant was approved for $750 which went towards Paul Davis.

  • Sales of $22,000


  1. Other fundraising

  • $62.51 profit from Mabels Labels

  • $811.55 profit from Purdy’s Fundraising

  • Cara presented feedback of Friendship Dance to council members.

  • Numerous suggestions that can possibly be implemented next year.


  1. Foire Fantastique

  • On going discussion regarding leads, roles and responsibilities

  • Pizza is still a better option during Foire for families.

  • Tracy may be able to borrow additional tables from another school and she will keep us posted.

  • Encourage to recruit highschool students from HDSB such as White Oaks and Iroquois Ridge

 

Other Business

  1. Google survey to parents will be discussed more in detail in the next meeting.

  2. A Google survey or poll to teachers for feedback would be very helpful to plan future events.

  3. Motion to implement hybrid meetings to encourage other parents to join via google link.

  4. Parent Reps and new fundraiser ideas for next year are tentatively on hold for discussion until the next meeting.
