Locally Developed/Essential Pathway Program at White Oaks
White Oaks offers Locally-Developed courses in grade 9 and 10:
- Grade 9: English, Math, Science, Geography, Integrated Arts, Discovering the Workplace
- Grade 10: English, Math, Science, History, Civics & Careers
Students can select locally-developed courses alongside destreamed, applied, and open-level courses, depending on their academic profile.
For grades 11 and 12, students in locally-developed courses can continue on to the Workplace pathway, earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and enter the workforce. For students who need additional help gaining the skills they need for the workplace, we offer a supported co-op option in grade 11 (DCO3O1) to help students gain these skills, as well as regular Co-op courses to apply these skills in various workplaces.
Students who demonstrate competence in skills and academic planning can transition to Applied programming and move into the College pathway. The flexibility of the locally developed program allows for students who demonstrate skill development to receive enrichment to prepare for and “try out” applied work.
