Social entrepreneur Craig Kielburger, co-founder of Me to We and Free The Children, will open the day with a keynote address titled,
The World Needs Your Kid: How to Raise Kids Who Care and Contribute. It will inspire those who shape children’s lives including parents, caregivers and educators. Through their work, Craig and his brother Marc have empowered more than two million young leaders to take action to better their local and global communities.
The second keynote address will be given by Dr. Bruce Ferguson, a Senior Consultant and the founding Director of the Community Health Systems Resource Group at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). His keynote address,
Working Together to Make our Children and Youth Successful, is an opportunity for parents, educators and community members to step back from their busy lives and ask some questions about what they want for children in today’s world and how to focus on important things.
The
Achieving Excellence by Nurturing Empathy and Resilience in Students conference theme will provide a variety of workshops addressing topics such as mathematics, literacy, promoting positive mental health for students, career pathways, e-learning, healthy friendships and cyberbullying.
The Halton District School Board Parent Involvement Committee recognizes parents play a vital role in the development and education of their children and in the success of schools and therefore provides a regular opportunity for parents/guardians to network, share ideas, offer input and enjoy informative presentations on a number of education related topics throughout the school year.
