Friday June 5th, 2026 Announcements

THE MONTH OF JUNE
June 1st is the beginning of Indigenous History Awareness Month. This is a time to recognize and learn about the diverse cultures, histories, and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples. It is an opportunity for all Canadians to understand the profound impact of Indigenous peoples on the country and to honour their resilience, achievements, and contributions.
National Indigenous History Month is not just about celebration; it’s also about acknowledging the past and ongoing impacts of colonization and making reconciliACTION a priority for all Canadians.

JUNE is also Pride month, a month to commemorate years of struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, as well as the accomplishments of 2S & LGBTQ+ individuals.
Pride month first began on June 28th, 1970 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising in the United States, when police raided a well known gay bar in New York City.
